New Clients

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING MY FIRST SESSION

Try to arrive 15 minutes early for the first appointment. Once you enter the waiting room, flip the light switch next to my name, “Brian Mattson”. This will alert me that you’ve arrived. You can relax, read, and make tea.

You will be asked to complete intake paperwork that can be downloaded from this website prior to our first meeting. When possible, I will review the intake paperwork before we meet.

At the beginning of the session, I will review confidentiality, my session cancellation policy and answer any questions you have for me. Once that is done, I’ll ask what has brought you to my office and how you feel I can help.  I’ll also want to know if you’ve had previous therapy and if it was helpful. Before the end of the session, I will share my impressions with you and how we can work together to meet your goals.

Inside Brian's Office

THE SESSION ENVIRONMENT

My office is large enough to run groups and do interactive activities with my clients. It is also intimate enough for you to feel contained and safe. You’re allowed to stay completely quiet, yell, cuss like a sailor, or move your body as you need. Everything you do or don’t do is communicating something valuable that we can use in the healing and growth process. I will stay present to everything you’re communicating to me and step in when there is an opportunity for learning and healing.

FEES & INSURANCE INFORMATION

My session fee is $190 for a 50 minute session. I am not in-network with any insurance provider. I can provide a statement or super-bill that can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement.
